Consequences of Sin

Every week, I meet and pray with women in our church and community who are hurting, just from life’s hardships. So many are struggling.

And this morning, I read Joshua. Joshua 20.

20 When Achan son of Zerah was unfaithful regarding the devoted things,[a] did not wrath come on the whole community of Israel? He was not the only one who died for his sin.’”

He was not the only one who died for his sin.

This story of Achan was so important that Joshua reminded the people again. The story was back in chapter 7. Achan sinned against God by stealing and hiding things that he took from the city they had conquered. He did it himself.

It was his choice to disobey.

But the entire community, his family, his wife, his mother, his father, and his own children paid for HIS sin.

When we make a choice to sin against God, it can have a domino effect. Although it may be our choice, disobedience to God affects far more than just ourselves.
