The Power of Persistence in Sharing the Gospel Message

Lesotho. South Africa.

I was the lucky one.

This young girl had been told about Jesus many times. Her mother was a new believer and wanted her daughter to understand the Gospel and what Jesus did for her. The missionaries, her mother, and the other believers in the village had shared the Gospel with her several times over the past year.

Being young, it takes time to understand what it all means. But on this morning, she was ready.

Driving by, we saw the young girl and her mother walking on the dusty road to her home so we stopped. The mother had a medical issue that the missionary wanted to check on, so I had a chance to visit with the young girl. Another worker from the area who could interpret was traveling with us, so the missionary asked that I share Jesus with the young girl again.

I did.

The worker asked her in her language if she understood what I shared with her and if she wanted Jesus to come to live in her heart – if she understood sin and believed that he came to save her from her sins.

She did.

I was the lucky one who not only got to share the love of Jesus and the Gospel message with the young girl again but also witnessed my new sister come to an understanding of Salvation.

So keep trying – no matter the number of times it takes for them to understand. Just don’t give up.

What a blessing.
