My Adventure on the Sea of Galilee
Sea of Galilee. Israel.
He let me steer the boat!
I was so excited to be in Israel on a mission trip. For safety purposes, I won’t say where we were, what we were doing, or who we met with, but we were there. All I will say is that we were working for my Father.
After our mission work, we took a few days to see the sights. It felt surreal to be in the land where Jesus walked. I could just envision Him stepping on the same dirt, over the same rocks, and witnessing the same sights that I was experiencing at that moment. Though things had changed quite a bit, I knew that He had been there.
The Sea of Galilee was one of my highlights. So much ministry went on around and on that body of water. To experience looking out over the calm water, knowing Jesus Himself had also sailed on that Sea with His disciples, was exciting.
We went on tour in a large wooden boat on the sea. It somewhat resembled a fishing vessel from Biblical times -only bigger and equipped with more technology. The boat’s captain was a large, intimidating man who did not speak English. Out in the middle of the sea, we all decided to sing a praise and worship song, and after we finished, the captain asked if someone wanted to steer the boat on our way back to shore.
Are you kidding me? Steer a ‘Jesus boat’ on the Sea of Galilee? Of course, I jumped at the chance!
I should mention that I can’t swim and I have a fear of water – but at that moment, none of that mattered to me at all.
Sometime God just winks and smiles and says “Enjoy this because I love you.”
Just say “Thank you Lord – I love you too.” and wink back.
